Threads
Contribute to the Newser community
Threads are Newser’s way of connecting a string of stories that make up an ongoing narrative
or address a particular issue as it develops over time. In threads, we
assemble both Newser articles and related web content -- along with
images, video, and background material -- to capture the bigger picture or
story line.
Now, the tools Newser editors and writers use to create Threads are available to our readers.
With this new feature, you can easily assemble Newser articles into a Thread that includes related
stories, photos, video, and more.
Is there an issue, topic, or subject you’re passionate about? Create a Thread and share it with friends and the entire Newser community. In addition to creating Threads, you can add to hundreds of Threads by other readers and our editorial staff. To give it a try, go to the My Account area of the site.
Getting Started
Under the My Threads tab you'll find the
button. Click it to
load our editing interface, which provides the same tools that our editors use to
assemble and publish threads. Go to our FAQ for in-depth guidance.
Locked or unlocked?
When you create a thread, you can lock it, so no one but you can alter it, or leave it open, inviting
other users to add to it. By the same token, you can contribute to hundreds of existing threads created by
Newser editors and other users.
Maintaining Your Threads
To keep existing threads up-to-date and relevant,
we continually add the best new or overlooked articles, and we invite you to do
the same. You'll find an 'Edit thread' link at the top of all threads (with
the exception of Threads that have been locked by their creator).
Thread Ratings
Our five-star rating system allows you to provide feedback on threads that you have
viewed. The number of stars next a thread represents an average of all of the ratings
that thread has received.
The hottest, newest, and most recently updated threads will be showcased on our home page.
