Internet radio services are finally getting a seat at the grown-ups' table, as the Senate has approved a bill that would allow them to renegotiate the royalty rate that they say is too high.
Under current law, Web radio sites like Pandora and Live365 have to pay the performers and owners of the recordings they broadcast. Songwriters and music publishers are paid a royalty by radio stations and Web broadcasters, while Web broadcasters also pay the performer.
