Majesco Entertainment, a provider of video games for the mass market, announced that the anagram game, Bananagrams, is now available as a free application on Facebook Platform.

Developed by Large Animal Games, Majesco said the Bananagrams goes above and beyond the rules of traditional board games in favor of an every-player-for-themselves approach that delivers lightning-fast puzzle play in a competitive environment.

(Newser) – Scrabble knock-off Scrabulous is a hit online, but sellers of the original board game have cried piracy and may take their claim to court, the New York Times reports. Tens of thousands of Scrabulous players have threatened to boycott Hasbro and Mattel if they shut down the Facebook-friendly game, which was invented by two brothers in Calcutta—and has given Scrabble an unexpected popularity surge.

The issue is complicated by two game makers, RealNetworks in Seattle and Electronic Arts in Redwood City, Calif., which have deals with Hasbro to make online Scrabble games. None of the companies involved want to lose the 700,000 fans who play Scrabulous daily, one expert says: “If something’s already out there and proven, the companies should go with it."

Game maker says unsanctioned online version must go

(Newser) - The makers of Scrabble say Scrabulous must go. Hasbro today sued the creators of the online knockoff, which is wildly popular on Facebook, and warned the social networking site to dtich the game, ABC News reports. No word yet on whether that will happen. Hasbro recently released its own online version of Scrabble, also available on Facebook, in conjunction with Electronic Arts. More »
