More troopers hit the streets; Schenectady welcomes additional State Police in bid to fight gun violence.(Capital Region)

SCHENECTADY - In response to escalating gun violence, more state troopers will patrol city streets and some of the city's own police officers will be reassigned to patrol duties.

State Police already work in Schenectady to supplement the police department, but more troopers arrived as of Wednesday at the request of Mayor Brian Stratton and Public Safety Commissioner Wayne Bennett.
