Debating Obama's Road Ahead.(Barack Obama)(Letter to the editor)

Article from: U.S. News & World Report Article date: November 14, 2008

I agree with [James] Pethokoukis 100 percent ["Why Obama Looks Like a One Termer (http://www.usnews.com/blogs/capital-commerce/2008/11/11/why-obama-could-be-a-one-term-president.html)," usnews.com]. "Old politics, old parties and old policies are increasingly irrelevant," Hart prophesies.

Whether Obama and Clinton are McGovern and Muskie or Hart and Mondale, the party's "unresolved internal struggles have time and again undermined its ability to win elections." More »

(Newser) - Congressional Democrats are looking to fast-track a $600 billion economic stimulus package in the first weeks of the New Year, the Washington Post reports. Nancy Pelosi said today lawmakers are working with the Obama transition team to craft the plan, which is smaller than the $1 trillion scheme floated earlier. The stimulus will likely include $200 billion in tax breaks and $400 million in infrastructure spending. More »

(Newser) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said the "positive signals" coming from Barack Obama's camp could lead to warmer relations between the two countries, Reuters reports. “If these are not just words, if they get transformed into a practical policy, then of course our reaction will be adequate and our American partners will feel this at once,” said Putin, in a marked contrast to heated rhetoric during the Georgia crisis.
