The Internet will overtake radio and become the world's fourth most-popular advertising medium by 2008, according to figures from ZenithOptimedia in a London Times article. Global spending on Internet advertising increased from $18.7 billion in 2005 to $24.9 billion in 2006, according to the company's figures.
The global overall advertising spend in 2008 will increase due to the 2008 US presidential election, the European football championships, which will be held in Germany and Austria, and the Olympics.
