(Newser) – If his aunt is violating immigration laws by living in the US illegally, "those laws have to be obeyed," Barack Obama declared yesterday. Obama made the remark during an interview last night with Katie Couric, during which he also expressed concern for his aunt Zeituni Onyango of Kenya, but said he hasn’t “been able to be in touch with her.”
The federal government is investigating whether any laws were broken in the leaking of information last week that Onyango has been living illegally in the US since 2004, when her application for political asylum from Kenya was rejected. One of the two sources who leaked and confirmed Onyago’s status is a federal law enforcement agent. It's still unclear whether the GOP played any role in release of the information.

Democrats and Tina Fey pounced. Edwards indulges: Major media outlets ignored a report of John Edwards' extramarital affair, but the National Enquirer caught him in the act.

Barack Obama today selected a Harvard physicist and a marine biologist for key science posts, in a sign he plans a more aggressive response to global warming than did the Bush administration. John Holdren and Jane Lubchenco are leading experts on climate change who have advocated forceful government action. “It's time we once again put science at the top of our agenda,” Obama said today.
