(Newser) – Several new Pennsylvania polls confirm a slight shift in Hillary Clinton’s direction, but not one substantial enough to suggest Barack Obama’s “bitter” gaffe has deeply affected support. CNN’s poll of polls shows Clinton’s lead rising only two points (from a four- to six-point margin). Half of respondents disagree with Obama’s controversial comments—but only 33% of Dems say they were offended.

Only polling firm ARG showed a major move in Clinton’s direction, with its margin shifting from a dead heat to a 20-point gap in a single week. The Drudge Report deemed the result a “shock,” but the Wall Street Journal notes ARG's especially shaky track record. Obama laughed off the elitist label today, pointing to humble origins and modest means in recent years.
