CRITICALLY ill heart patient, Hiramun Salikram, was "on his last legs" and could have dropped dead at any moment. His only hope was a heart transplant.

But he had been on the organ transplant list for three years and was given just days to live before hearing that a donor heart had become available.

The donor heart was flown from Cape Town and had to be transplanted in four hours, giving surgeons just 30 minutes to spare to get it into his body and get it beating.
