EarthLink plans to launch a Wi-Fi handset, costing $100, to compete directly with fixed-line and wireless telco firms. The company is deploying citywide wireless LAN networks in various US cities, including San Francisco, Philadelphia, Anaheim, Atlanta, Pasadena, Milpitas, Corpus Christi, Alexandria, and St Petersburg.
