DARPA Announces 36 Semifinalists For November's Urban Challenge.

ANAHEIM, Calif.--The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) yesterday revealed the 36 semifinalists in its Urban Challenge autonomous ground vehicle competition that has a top prize of $2 million.

DARPA Director Tony Tether announced the semifinalist list here on Aug. 9, the third and final day of DARPA Tech 2007, the agency's biennial forum to display its accomplishments and plot the course ahead for cutting-edge technology research with industry and academia.
