DARPA Concludes Autonomous Aerial Refueling Experiment.(Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency)

The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) says it completed a demonstration earlier this month with NASA showing that unmanned aircraft can autonomously perform in-flight refueling under operational conditions.

In fact, the agency said, the final configuration of software used in the Autonomous Airborne Refueling Demonstration (AARD) allowed the surrogate unmanned receiver aircraft to maneuver and perform "better than a skilled pilot" in proximity to the tanker ...
