Indian Army, Air Force Begin Exercises in Desert

The Indian Army and Air Force have begun a major joint exercise in the Thar desert, about 100 kilometers inside the international border, local media reported on Wednesday.

The exercise, code-named "Operation Vijay Chakra," is being held in the Suratgarh area in the tri-junction of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, with the army's strike corps, elite paratroopers and frontline combat jets participating, India's major English newspaper The Hindu reported.
