WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. John McCain is charging the Obama administration's foreign policy is "delusional" and says Secretary of State John Kerry's global diplomacy has "accomplished nothing except mileage."

In an appearance on MSNBC, the Arizona Republican also calls Russian President Vladimir Putin a "meglomaniac" and "pariah."

McCain's interview came after Kerry held talks in Geneva Monday with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

McCain says he couldn't understand why Kerry would see Lavrov in the wake of Boris Nemtsov assassination and Russia's involvement in Ukraine.

McCain says he believes Putin is "intent on restoring the old Russian empire."

McCain challenged his interviewers on Kerry, demanding they "tell me one accomplishment that he has made."

Of President Barack Obama's foreign policy, the Arizona Republican said, "I would say worse than adrift. I would say delusional."
