CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama's brief trip to Chicago this week gave him a chance to rally voters in one of the few places where he's still popular enough to help his party.

But even Obama had to acknowledge that most Democratic candidates this year don't want to be seen with him in public.

When he said in a radio interview that Democratic congressmen have supported his agenda, Republicans pounced.

But Obama said he understood that some Democrats must distance themselves from his record, advising them to do what they need to do to win.

Meanwhile, Obama campaigned for Gov. Pat Quinn, delivered doughnuts to campaign workers and cast his own early vote in his hometown.
