Bon Jovi lead guitarist Richie Sambora was arrested for investigation of drunken driving, police said Wednesday.
Sambora, 48, was arrested just before 11 p.m. Tuesday after an officer noticed his black Hummer weaving in traffic lanes, said Laguna Beach police Sgt. Jason Kravetz.
Sambora was given a field sobriety test and arrested without incident. He was booked at the Laguna Beach jail, where he gave a blood sample and was released at 4 a.m., Kravetz said.
"He was very cooperative with all the staff," Kravetz said.
Three female passengers, including two minors, were in the car with Sambora. The adult woman took custody of the two minors and the car after Sambora's arrest, he said.
Kravetz declined to release their names, but said they were not celebrities.
Police will consider filing child endangerment charges against Sambora if his blood-alcohol level comes back above the legal limit of .08, Kravetz said.
Sambora was given notice to appear in court May 7 on one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence, Kravetz said. Blood test results, which could show Sambora's level of intoxication, will take about a week to come back.
Ken Sunshine, a spokesman for Bon Jovi, had no comment.
Sambora is a founding member of Bon Jovi. The group's last album, released in 2007, was called "Lost Highway."
