Special Olympics athlete found after disappearing from LAX

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An autistic teenage Special Olympics athlete who vanished from Los Angeles International Airport has been found.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison says 15-year-old Shion Isimel of the Ivory Coast has been located.

No further details on his whereabouts or condition were immediately released.

Isimel was last seen around 6 a.m. Monday walking out of a terminal. Security camera showed the French-speaking team in a black shirt leaving the airport.

Authorities are expected to release more details at a news conference scheduled for 5 p.m.

Earlier, an Albanian athlete who disappeared from the games turned up safe in a community on the east side of the San Francisco Bay.
