TORONTO (AP) — Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis has homered twice against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night and has five homers in his last eight at-bats to overtake Seattle's Nelson Cruz for the major league lead.

Davis now has 40 homers on the season. After homering in the ninth inning Tuesday, he hit two more home runs against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, including a game-winning blast in the 11th.

Davis opened the scoring Friday in the second inning with a second-deck drive to right.

He broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth with a two-run shot to left. Both homers came off Blue Jays right-hander Drew Hutchison.

It was the sixth multihomer game of the season for Davis and the 13th of his career.

Matt Wieters followed Davis' second homer with a drive of his own. It was the fourth time this season Baltimore has hit back-to-back homers. Davis has been involved all four times.
