LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two days after Black Lives Matter protesters derailed his rally, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders allowed the same activist group to open a major campaign event in Los Angeles.

The move on Monday night kicked off a wildly enthusiastic rally that avoided his previous problem in Seattle.

Sanders told the crowd of about 16,000 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena that "no president will fight harder to end institutional racism."

The response was a deafening roar and chants of "Bernie!"

Sanders was introduced by comedian Sarah Silverman.

The rally came after Sanders appeared in Oakland in front of a group of nurses, whose national union formally gave him their key endorsement.
