ROME (AP) — The Italian Coast Guard says 3,690 migrants have been rescued at sea in 17 different operations.

The rescue operations took place Saturday in the Mediterranean Sea south of Sicily as smugglers' boats took advantage of calm seas and good weather.

Some of the migrants were to arrive Sunday at Italian ports, others won't get to land until early Monday.
