NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Country singer Scotty McCreery, who won "American Idol" with his impressive baritone voice, is writing his first book.

The singer, who will be 22 on Friday, says his autobiography, "Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream," will be released May 3, 2016, through Zondervan.

The book will chronicle his life as a kid in North Carolina who imitated Elvis Presley to winning season 10 of "American Idol" at age 17. He went on to top the Billboard 200 chart with his debut album, "Clear as Day," in 2013. He has had three platinum singles.

McCreery is expected to release his fourth album next year.
