IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Instead of the new coach many Iowa fans were hoping for, the Hawkeyes has apparently gotten a new Kirk Ferentz.

Ferentz, the nation's second-longest tenured coach, has spent the last eight months overhauling his underperforming program.

Ferentz has made a ton of changes this offseason, from introducing alternate uniforms to switching practice times and updating his recruiting philosophy. The Hawkeyes are hoping they'll pay off with wins, starting Saturday against Illinois State in the season opener.
