A call to parents. A crowded boat. A quiet place to sleep after being at sea for weeks.

Images from Asia this week captured the plight of more than 3,000 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar and migrants from Bangladesh who have come ashore in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand this month. Thousands more are believed to be stranded in boats in Southeast Asia's worst humanitarian crisis in years.

After pushing away some boats and their human cargo, Malaysia and Indonesia agreed to shelter the boat people temporarily, but asked for international help in funding and in resettling the refugees.

In Bangkok, student protesters were dragged away by police after people tried to organize a protest marking the first anniversary of Thailand's military coup.

The Seoul High Court suspended the prison term of former Korean Air executive Cho Hyun-ah whose onboard "nut rage" tantrum delayed a flight last year. The ruling ended her incarceration. She had been locked up since her December arrest.

Kashmiri Muslims raised their hands in prayer as a head priest displayed a relic of the Prophet Muhammad at a service marking the day Muslims believe he ascended to heaven.

A 7-year-old did a cartwheel at the annual Vivid Sydney festival of display, light, music and ideas that runs until June 8.

In other glimpses of life across Asia, a sunset painted dramatic colors above the beach in Myanmar where a visitor rode a horse along the surf, while at the Singapore Zoo, a furry koala took a nap.
