SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The Latest on a hospital fire in South Korea (all times local):

4:20 p.m.

Fire authorities have revised the death toll from a hospital fire in southeastern South Korea to 37.

The National Fire Agency earlier said 39 were killed in the fire at Sejong Hospital in the city of Miryang.

It says in a statement the misstep in the death toll happed because of double counting.

The statement says the fire left 125 injured, 14 of them in serious condition.

2:50 p.m.

A hospital official says three members of the medical staff died in the fire that killed at least 39 people at a hospital in South Korea.

One emergency room doctor who was on duty, one nurse and one nurse assistant died in the fire Friday morning at Sejong Hospital.

The head of the foundation that operates the hospital, Son Kyung-cheol, also said in a televised briefing Friday afternoon that sprinklers were not installed in the hospital as it was not legally required.

1:30 p.m.

A health official says the death toll from a hospital fire in South Korea has risen to 39.

Local health official Cheon Jae-kyung says 10 others are in critical condition from Friday's fire at Sejong Hospital in the southeastern city of Miryang.

He says most of the dead victims were killed by smoke inhalation.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.

11:15 a.m.

A fire official says the toll from a hospital fire in South Korea has risen to 31 dead with 77 injured.

Fire official Choi Man-wu said in a televised briefing eight of the injured are in critical condition.

The fire started from the first floor at Sejong Hospital in the southern city of Miryang. The cause is under investigation

Choi said a total of 194 people were in two buildings. Sejong Hospital has a nursing home for the elderly and also offers regular medical services.

11 a.m.

A fire agency official says 18 people have been killed and 63 injured in a hospital fire in southeastern South Korea.

An official at the National Fire Agency says the death toll is expected to rise from the fire at Sejong Hospital early Friday.

Yonhap news agency says the death toll has reached 33, but the official couldn't immediately confirm the report.

The official says the cause of the fire was under investigation. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to media.

Yonhap says the hospital has 193 beds including 98 beds for the elderly who needs nursing care with 35 medical staff.
