2 small planes collide in air and crash in western NY

NORTH COLLINS, N.Y. (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says two small planes collided in the air, then crashed in western New York south of Buffalo.

The FAA says it happened around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in North Collins, New York. One of the planes was a Cessna 120; the other was a Piper PA-28.

Emergency responders were on the scene. Details on the extent of any injuries were not immediately released.

The FAA says it will investigate, and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause.
