LONDON (AP) — The crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 into the French Alps shocked the world last week — especially after prosecutors announced that the co-pilot had deliberately locked his captain out of the cockpit and flown the plane into a mountain.

The crash brought the leaders of France, Germany and Spain together to mourn, since many of the victims were German and Spanish.

Nigeria held a presidential election that analysts said would be the most contested vote in the history of Africa's richest nation.

Hooded penitents marched in Spain to celebrate age-old traditions during Easter Holy Week.

In Switzerland, negotiators for Iran and several world powers tried to come to an agreement over the country's nuclear program.

Sierra Leone, meanwhile, held a three-day lockdown to try to halt the spread of Ebola.
