ARMOY, Northern Ireland (AP) — "Game of Thrones" fans, don't fret: Cleaners are coming.

Tourists who flock to Northern Ireland to visit the settings for the hit HBO fantasy series were incensed this week to discover that a road maintenance crew had painted a stark white line down the middle of the Dark Hedges, one of the most eagerly anticipated sights.

The country road flanked by gloriously gnarled beech trees provides the otherworldly backdrop of Kingsroad, the central path through the mythical world of Westeros.

Government officials say the paint job was a mistake and will be scrubbed off by Thursday.

The modern markings ruined travelers' photos but wouldn't have affected the show, which uses special effects to obscure the road's paved surface.
