BALTIMORE (AP) — A CVS store set ablaze. People looting shops and hurling rocks and bricks at police. The smell of burned rubber in one neighborhood where youths looted a liquor store.

Rioting erupted in Baltimore on Monday evening, following the funeral of the black man who died in police custody after suffering a severe spinal cord injury.

Monday's riot was the latest flare-up over the mysterious death of Freddie Gray, whose fatal encounter with law enforcement officers came amid the national debate over police use of force, especially when black suspects are involved. Gray was African-American.
