HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton says U.S. ground forces should not be sent back to Iraq.

Campaigning in New Hampshire on Friday, the former secretary of state appeared to be definitive on that subject.

She said she sees "no role whatsoever for American soldiers on the ground to go back" — other than in their current limited capacity as trainers and advisers.

Iraqi setbacks in the fight against Islamic State militants have intensified questions about whether U.S. forces should be doing more there.

But Clinton says the existing policy of providing U.S. air support, intelligence, surveillance and training should not be changed.

The struggle, she says, has to be fought and won by the Iraqis.
