NEW YORK (AP) — The force of "Star Wars" has drawn together two of the biggest pop culture sensations of the year.

Director J.J. Abrams divulged on Monday's "The Tonight Show" that "Hamilton" creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the song for what Abrams called "our version of the Cantina scene" for the upcoming "The Force Awakens." The Mos Eisley Cantina scene of "Star Wars" is beloved for its jazzy alien lounge act, an instrumental penned by composer John Williams.

Abrams said he met Miranda after a Broadway performance of "Hamilton," and Miranda jokingly offered to write a Cantina scene. Later Abrams sought out Miranda to compose the scene's music with him.

Miranda confirmed the collaboration on Twitter, saying the pair worked on the song in between "Hamilton" shows for the past two months.
