A look at what's happening all around the major leagues today:

___

SURGING TIM

Giants starter Tim Lincecum (5-2, 2.56) looks to continue his strong start this season against the Atlanta Braves and starter Williams Perez (0-0, 4.05). Lincecum is 9-6 with a 2.76 ERA in 15 career starts against the Braves. He beat them twice last year.

RIOS' RETURN

Alex Rios is expected to return to the Kansas City Royals' lineup against the Chicago Cubs following 1 1/2 months on the disabled list with a broken left hand. Rios, hitting .321 (9 for 29) with one homer and eight RBIs, has been sidelined since April 13, when he was he by a pitch from Minnesota's J.R. Graham.

CHI CHI'S DEBUT

Rangers rookie Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez is set to make his major league debut one day after the team announced they will purchase his contract from Triple-A Round Rock. The right-hander will face the Boston Red Sox after going 3-5 with a 4.15 ERA in eight starts for Round Rock. In 43 1-3 innings, he allowed 46 hits and walked 19 while striking out 26.

STREAKING

Washington's Ian Desmond takes a 13-game hitting streak into the game at Cincinnati. Desmond extended the second-longest streak of his career with a first-inning single on Friday night. It leaves him six games shy of the longest hitting streak in the NL this season. Teammate Wilson Ramos hit in 19 straight games from April 24-May 19.
