WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) — Noise complaints have put the future of a major Connecticut music venue in jeopardy.

Wallingford's Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday night let stand a cease-and-desist order against the Oakdale Theatre, after complaints from neighbors that music from concerts there can be heard in surrounding homes.

Joan Molloy, an attorney for the theater told the board that the majority of the complaints come from a few people who have recently moved into the area. He says the theater is working on improvements to decrease the sound leakage.

No concerts have yet been cancelled as a result of the order.

The town's planning and zoning commission plans to meet on June 8 to consider an application from the theater to modify conditions of its permit.
