WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on Trump's attacks on the late Sen. John McCain (all times local):

4 p.m.

President Donald Trump is escalating his attacks on the late Sen. John McCain, saying that he gave the longtime lawmaker "the kind of funeral he wanted" and "I didn't get a thank you."

Trump went on a lengthy diatribe against the Vietnam war hero, Arizona senator and 2008 Republican presidential candidate on Wednesday. At an event in Ohio, Trump repeated his complaint that McCain voted against his legislation to repeal President Barack Obama's health care law and argued that McCain was not supportive of military veterans.

Trump said "I've never liked him much," adding that he "probably never will."

McCain died last year of brain cancer. Trump has spent days attacking him on Twitter and in his public comments.

A Republican senator says that he's had enough of President Donald Trump's personal attacks on the late John McCain and that "the country deserves better."

Johnny Isakson of Georgia is quoted as telling The Bulwark conservative news and opinion website that "nothing is more important than the integrity of the country and those who fought and risked their lives for all of us."

McCain served in the Vietnam War and died of brain cancer last year. As an Arizona senator he was a Trump foe.

Trump has escalated his feud with McCain in recent days, saying he was "never a fan" of the former GOP presidential candidate and "never will be." Over the weekend, Trump renewed his long-running grievances in some caustic tweets.

McCain's daughter Meghan McCain called Trump's life "pathetic."
