LONDON (AP) — A British nurse who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone has been discharged from the hospital after making a complete recovery.

Pauline Cafferkey said she was "happy to be alive" after more than three weeks in an isolation unit in north London's Royal Free Hospital.

Cafferkey, a volunteer with the charity Save The Children at an Ebola treatment center in Kerry Town, returned to Britain on Dec. 28. She was diagnosed with the virus shortly after, becoming the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola on British soil.

The nurse said Saturday: "I still don't feel 100 percent, I feel quite weak, but I'm looking forward to going home."
