First foreigner dies from swine flu in China

State media say a 32-year-old Russian man has become the first foreigner to die from swine flu in mainland China.

The official Xinhua News Agency says the man was suffering from shortness of breath and a high fever and was admitted to a hospital Monday where he tested positive for the H1N1 flu virus and died later in the day.

His name was not released.

China has reported that seven Chinese have died from the disease, and the Ministry of Health says it is inevitable that serious cases of swine flu and deaths will increase.
