Hospital officials say Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi will be dismissed from hospital on Wednesday, after he was hit in the face with a statuette hurled by a man at a rally.

The medical bulletin issued Tuesday by the San Raffaele hospital in Milan also recommends Berlusconi be not involved in public activities for at least two weeks. It says the premier is still in pain, but his condition is not worrisome.

The 73-year-old leader was hit as he was signing autographs at the rally in Milan on Sunday. He was rushed to the hospital with blood under his nose, on his mouth and under one eye.

The attacker, a 42-year-old man with a history of psychological problems, has been arrested. Police have identified him as Massimo Tartaglia.
