Republican Brian Sandoval and Democrat Rory Reid took turns calling each other liars during the opening moments of the second gubernatorial debate.

Sandoval said his opponent's pledge to not raise taxes is a lie, and Reid said Sandoval was beholden to lobbyists Thursday in Las Vegas. The one-hour debate was broadcast in English and Spanish.

Both candidates criticized the other for not releasing a detailed plan on how they would close the state's $3 billion budget deficit.

Reid, chairman of the powerful Clark County Commission, has released a limited plan. Sandoval has said his plan will go public soon.

A recent poll showed Sandoval favored over Reid, 51 percent to 37 percent.
