Oscar Pistorius has appeared in a South African court for a hearing ahead of the murder trial of the double-amputee Olympian, who killed his girlfriend on Valentine's Day.

Wearing a dark suit, Pistorius arrived through the front entrance of the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The prosecution requested a postponement until Aug. 19 so that it can investigate, and the magistrate approved the request. Pistorius will remain free on bail.

Pistorius has said he killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp by mistake, believing she was an intruder in his home. Prosecutors have said he killed her after an argument.
