DETROIT (AP) — Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez lost his bid for a no-hitter when Toronto's Ezequiel Carrera singled with one out in the eighth inning Friday night.

After lining a ball just foul down the right-field line, the former Tiger lined a clean single into shallow left.

Sanchez, who no-hit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sept. 6, 2006, while with the Marlins, was vying to become the fifth pitcher since 1901 to throw no-hitters in both leagues.
