Rockies Servers Crash, Halting Series Ticket Sales

(Newser) – The Colorado Rockies have suspended World Series ticket sales—both online and at the box office—after a partner company's servers crashed under overwhelming demand. Tix went on sale at 10am, but the site had massive traffic 90 minutes beforehand, and by the time sales opened the system was hopelessly jammed. "It's a joke. They should have started selling these a while ago," says one fan.

Only a few hundred Series tickets out of the 17,000 to 18,000 available per game were sold before the site shut down. Fans waiting in line at Coors Field were also turned away. The ticketing service is run by Paciolan, a California company that processes orders for multiple clients, the Denver Post reports. The crash appeared to affect some of them as well, although how many is unclear.
