Pakistan says it's jihadist propaganda

A blurry amateur video has surfaced that appears to show Pakistani troops lining up and gunning down six blindfolded young men, in what would appear to be an unlawful execution. A group called the International Pashtuns’ Association posted the video to Facebook, saying it was shot during the military’s campaign in the Swat valley last summer. Explosions can be heard in the background as the soldiers confer in Urdu. “One by one, or together?” asks one soldier. “Together,” his commander replies.

The Pakistani government says the video is fake, dismissing it as jihadist propaganda. But human rights groups say they’ve received “credible reports” of such killings before, and an ex-Pakistani general tells Al Jazeera that the uniforms and rifles look authentic. “We have to take it at face value at the moment, and take it seriously,” the ex-general said. But he added, “I’m sure that this is not the military policy. It would undermine the whole war on terror.” (More Pakistan stories.)
