Molly Wei faces charges—perhaps even hate crime charges—for her alleged role in the webcasting of Tyler Clementi’s sexual encounters with another male, but her lawyers insist she’s innocent, the AP reports. Wei, from whose room Clementi’s roommate Dharun Ravi is accused of broadcasting his webcam recordings, is being “maligned by unfounded attacks on her character,” say her lawyers in a statement. “This is a tragic situation,” it continues, but “Molly committed no crime."

"Her remarkable reputation is being unjustly tarnished by uninformed and incorrect assumptions. Neither Molly nor anyone else should be used to further the agenda of others." (More Molly Wei stories.)
