Sox Offense Rocks Colorado

Posted Oct 25, 07 1:26 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Josh Beckett struck out the first four batters he faced, and Dustin Pedroia belted Colorado starter Jeff Francis's second pitch of the game over the Green Monster to give Boston a surge of momentum the team would never relinquish, beating the Rockies 13-1 in Game 1 of the World Series.  Beckett continued his stellar post season, allowing only one run in seven innings.

"I think I executed just enough pitches today to survive," said Beckett following the game. "That's a good lineup they have over there." Boston manager Terry Francona praised Beckett's performance, saying: "He's been huge for us, and to win, you have to have guys like that. We're not done and he's not done."
