(Newser) – Two of the porn industry's biggest companies have stopped production following the news that an actor has tested positive for HIV. Yesterday's revelation sent the industry—which eschews the use of condoms on porn sets—into a tizzy, as it attempts to track down the people who may have worked with the actor, whose name and gender have not been released, reports the AP.

Last year, a woman tested positive for HIV immediately after making an adult film, and in 2004, an HIV outbreak affecting several actors spread panic in the industry and briefly shut down productions at several California studios. Currently, workplace safety laws don't require that those in the adult entertainment industry wear condoms, something safety officials at Cal/OSHA are considering changing.
