Things might be looking up a bit for beleaguered pop tart Britney Spears. A misdemeanor hit-and-run charge against her was tossed out yesterday when a Los Angeles court commissioner learned that she had paid a $1,000 cash settlement to the motorist whose car she dinged in a parking lot in August, reports E! Online.

The singer still faces a misdemeanor count of driving without a license during the accident. She now has a valid California license and her lawyer is trying to work out a plea deal which could involve a year of probation. (More Britney Spears stories.)
