London Calling for NFL

Posted Oct 26, 07 1:10 AM CDT in World Sports    Editor's Choice

(Newser) – As London and the NFL brace for the weekend's Dolphins-Giants match—the first regular-season game played outside the US in league history—football officials are hoping it will launch the game into a new, more international era. If all goes well, commissioner Roger Goodell plans to make foreign-hosted games a regular event in future seasons.

Said the director of NFL UK, "It would be a hell of a lot of work, and a logistical minefield, if this were to be a one-off. It has to lead to more things and the jury will be out for a lot longer than the next 72 hours.”
