Tasty Snack for T. Rex: Another T. Rex

Paleontologist finds evidence of cannibalism

(Newser) – It looks like T. Rex was a cannibal. So says a Yale paleontologist who found telltale bone gouges on a fossil of the giant dinosaur that make it all but certain it had been eaten by a fellow T. Rex. That prompted him to take a closer look at other T. Rex fossils, where he found evidence of at least three more such cases, reports LiveScience. Whether they were deliberate attacks just instances of scavenging is impossible to tell.

"It's surprising how frequent it appears to have been," says the scientist. "It could mean that they were really thorough at cleaning up after animals died in the environment. Or it could mean that they were killing and eating each other fairly often." Prior to this, scientists knew of only one other cannibal dinosaur, but the finding could change the thinking that the practice was rare. For more, click here.

So T Rex lunched on its own species? We've known this for years, that T Rex was a carrion-eater - a scavenger. Using tooth marks to infer that T Rex hunted others of his kind for food makes no sense.

Well Mr. or Ms. Scientist, here is a bit of thought to cast upon your findings, let's say the T-Rex did turn cannibal, not a big thing considering they were a super predator

Now let's consider as has been speculated that global weather changes happened quickly, food became scarce and the last remaining animals were the different predator species, guess what they turned to when they could find little else to eat?

Now how much money did you spend and waste on this earth shattering study?

Send me part of the check for my work, thank you very much...

Now they need to find an example of a fossilized T-rex foetus eating the other foetuses in the womb, like baby sharks sometimes do. That is truly gruesome.
