YouTube Yanks Grisly Tea Partier's Abortion Ad

Missy Smith had 2 abortions, now candidate wants to outlaw them

(Newser) – A Tea Party campaign ad featuring graphic images of aborted fetuses is so grisly that it's being blocked from YouTube. The 30-second spot for Washington congressional candidate Missy Smith is, however, running two dozen times on various TV stations in the DC area. But the images are so disturbing that many stations will run 15-second notices warning viewers of what they are about to see. In the ad, Smith says she made a big mistake when she had not one, but two, abortions. Now, "it’s time to make child killing illegal again," she says over the gruesome photos. YouTube pulled the ad, saying it violated the site's policy against "shocking and disgusting content.”

Smith could not be immediately reached for comment, notes ABC News. The linchpin of her campaign against Democratic Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton is the fight against abortion, and she often appears at events with controversial anti-abortionist Randall Terry. Her website reads: “Tea Party’s Number One Mission: End Legalized Child-Killing.” Smith, who refers to herself as a "post abortive woman," also "hates big government, high taxation, socialism, and government bailouts" and demonstrates for chastity, she notes on the site. She has never held public office.

The opening of the video made it seem like she couldn't make up her own mind about abortion. She didn't have time to decide after the first abortion? They stayed with her while she tried to make up her mind, did the force her twist her arm (figuratively speaking).Yeah that over the top dramatic "they lied to me and took advantage of me". Then proceed to use cut up dead babies in the ad then use the pelosi, reid and Obama support murder of children (actually was expecting that) but then used hacked off limbs of a fetus with blood coming out and a hand on top of a dime...

In response to the video beside the ad, this lady is not arguing in an accurate way. It would be nice to believe that late term abortions are only on those which will not live, but this just is not true. My cousin was 6 months or more pregnant and all she had to do was drive across the bridge into Memphis to terminate. There was nothing wrong with mother or child. This is only one example. If I, a prolifer, can name off 5 ppl who have had 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions (I don't know the legalities of it, but I do know each one was done in a clinic with a doctor and nurses present, all babies were viable- the only thing was a scared mother who put it off too long because they were in shock I assume), and I live in the Southeast where ppl don't exactly BRAG about aborting their children, then trust me lady, it is HAPPENING. Even at 9 weeks, it does not resemble a "ball of cells". She should check her info before speaking so confidently. I would assume someone as pro choice as herself must surely know herself quite a few women who have had these late abortions done. It's a joke to pretend there aren't doctors willing to do it, and mothers scared enough to find one.

I have to say I am totally pro choice and despise the anti abortion activists as utter hypocrites but I see no reason why this ad should not be aired. At the risk of sounding obvious, abortion is what it is. If the results are 'grisly' lets see them and make our decisions based on that. But let's see the grisly results of other decisions as well. Let's see the mutilated bodies of soldiers killed and maimed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Let's see the bodies of the dead babies who were killed by our weapons in those places. In the run up to the invasion of Iraq the TV stations should have been continuously showing footage of dead bodies and maimed, disfigured and disabled people because those are the inevitable results of a decision to go to war just as the aborted fetus is the inevitable result of the decision to abort it.
