How did Jennifer Mee turn from a sweet 15-year-old girl with a bad case of the hiccups into an alleged murderer? Her mother isn’t sure, but tells a Tampa radio show that Mee’s “curse of the hiccups” may be to blame. After her sudden fame, “all of a sudden, people knew her name and she would talk to them on different chat sites,” her mom says. “She's very naive, and I was afraid she was getting herself into something that she didn't really know what she was doing.”

After losing the hiccups, Mee reunited with her estranged father, ran away from home twice, and had more than three run-ins with the police after fights with her boyfriend. On MySpace, she describes herself as the “female version of a hustla” and says she’s been through many “struggles," MSNBC reports. She is accused of meeting Shannon Griffin, 22, online and luring him to a vacant home near her apartment, where he was shot four times in a botched robbery that netted less than $50.
