Shape Apologizes for Putting Rimes on Cover

Magazine's editor: We didn't mean to tout 'husband-stealer'

(Newser) – Who knew LeAnn Rimes offended so many people? Enough readers complained about her appearance on the cover of Shape that the editor-in-chief actually apologized, TooFab.com reports. Rimes, of course, cheated on her husband with also-married co-star Eddie Cibrian, ultimately breaking up both marriages. In an email to subscribers who believe "Shape has made a terrible mistake," Valerie Latona apologized.

The magazine did not mean "to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal," she wrote, "but to show (through her story) how we all are human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment." For more, or to see the cover, click here.

While Rimes’ behavior is not necessarily savory, doesn’t the backlash over this article get at the question of why one even reads magazines? Is it not for, as Latona said, ‘compelling stories?’ The question, it seems, is one of the medium; wouldn’t such behavior be celebrated if it had been put on television? http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2010/10/shape-editor-stands-by-her-leann-rimes-cover-feature/

Why try to say I am sorry, It was a personnel decision she made, leave the public out of it. the public will forget and move on like we usually do. She keeps bringing it back up. Only GOD can judge them. Stay out of the public for a while, trust me it will be forgotten, we the public will found someone else or something else to judge and comment on.
